What I keep seeing
The important detail is usually buried in a packet. A headline may describe the intent, while the agenda, amendment, and minutes show what actually happened. A screenshot without an item number is hard to check later.
What should exist
I would keep a one-page record with the sponsor, committee, amendments, vote, office responsible for carrying it out, and next check. I would label every packet and minute by date because an item can change before the final vote.
- Write the decision in one sentence without a prediction.
- Name the public office responsible for the next step.
- Name the next meeting, report, permit, or budget line to check.
What a Buffalo person can do today
Open the City Agenda Center or county session page. Download the packet and minutes. Copy the item number and vote into your record. Then check the related permit, planning approval, budget, or service data. A vote proves a decision, not construction, service delivery, or funding.
