Buffalo Future Deal Room

A plain record for checking a big Buffalo project's promises, approvals, money, and results.

What I keep seeing

A project announcement can contain jobs, investment, and public benefits in the same paragraph. Those are claims until a board packet, agency record, or later report supports them. The project name and address also shift, which makes casual checking difficult.

What should exist

I would keep one project record with the exact claim, project name, address, applicant, agency, approval date, conditions, and result. It would separate tax exemptions, PILOTs, grants, loans, land transfers, and infrastructure work. The City's guide and ECIDA materials explain programs and hearings. They do not by themselves prove a project's award.

  • Name the agency and document for every public dollar or benefit.
  • Record the approval date, conditions, and reporting owner.
  • Keep projected jobs and actual jobs in separate fields.

What a Buffalo person can do today

Save the announcement and open the City agenda, bid, permit, and planning records. Check ECIDA meetings and the county economic development committee. Write down which claims are still unverified. If a record is missing, use the City's FOIL portal or contact the named agency. Keep the uncertainty visible.
